Supersmile FAQ

When beginning a new whitening regimen, what Supersmile products do you recommend?

When beginning any whitening routine, first check with a dental professional to ensure that your teeth and gums are healthy. To whiten natural teeth or restorations, start by using our Professional Whitening System in conjunction with our Whitening Pre-Rinse and Activating Rods. Once you have achieved your optimal level of whiteness, maintain your teeth with Supersmile Professional Whitening Toothpaste.

What is Calprox®?

Calprox® is Supersmile’s proprietary form of Calcium Peroxide. Calprox® is a safe, clear, bleaching ingredient that breaks down the protein pellicle (which is the sticky film that bacteria and stains adhere to) on your teeth. By dissolving the protein pellicle, you remove the plaque, stains, and bacteria that adhere to it, and your teeth stay cleaner for longer.

Is Calprox® safe on dental work?

Calprox® will not harm any dental work. It restores bonding, caps, veneers, and dentures to their original whiteness. It maintains and enhances the vibrancy of professionally bleached teeth and removes coffee, tea, tobacco, red-wine, and other stains without harsh abrasives or the risk of sensitivity. Our whitening products can be used every day without any harm or detriment to the enamel.

Will Supersmile products work on all types of teeth?

Supersmile will work on all types of teeth including natural teeth, veneers, crowns, bonding and even dentures.

Why do the Whitening Toothpaste and Whitening Accelerator have to go on a dry toothbrush?

It is best used on a dry toothbrush to maintain the consistency of the Whitening Toothpaste and Accelerator and to assure the integrity and effectiveness of the formula.

What is the recommended time used for brushing?

We recommend that you brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes in the morning and 2 minutes at night right before going to bed. It is extremely important to brush at night, because, during the day, we swallow up to 20,000 times (as we drink and talk, we contribute to the quantity of saliva our mouths produce). At night, however, we only swallow about 20 times, allowing plaque and bacteria to form uninterrupted. If plaque remains on your teeth for a few hours, it turns bacterial, contributing to “morning breath.”

What is the advantage of using Supersmile products as opposed to other whitening products?

The Advanced Whitening System is the #1 whitening system recommended by cosmetic dentists worldwide. Our products do not contain harsh abrasives that can lead to sensitivity or silica, which scratches the enamel of your teeth, leaving it porous. Supersmile also contains our own proprietary ingredient, Calprox®, which eliminates the protein pellicle – that sticky film to which bacteria, plaque, and stains adhere. Our Professional Whitening Toothpaste contains Fluoride, as well as Calcium, Magnesium, and Phosphates, so it can be used daily in place of your regular oral care routine. Supersmile requires no extra steps, messy trays, or ill-fitting strips. Just brush & whiten!

What is Xylitol?

Xylitol is a healthful sugar alternative that is beneficial to dental health. Xylitol helps reduce dental cavities, plaque, and tooth decay. Studies have shown that Xylitol is actually cariostatic; in other words, it reduces new tooth decay by inhibiting plaque and suppressing decay-causing bacteria. It is 100% natural, Kosher, gluten-free, colorant-free, preservative-free, additive-free, sugar-free, sucralose-free, as well as yeast and dairy-free.

Why does the Whitening Toothpaste tube contain more product than the Whitening Accelerator?

The chemical compound of the Whitening Accelerator needs more room to “breathe” inside the tube. Since you are using equal parts of both products there will be enough of both products. Our Whitening Toothpaste can also be used by itself without the Accelerator, however the Accelerator has to be used with the Supersmile Whitening Toothpaste.

How do I use the Single Dose Powdered Whitening Rinse packets?

Our Powdered Whitening Rinse is very simple to use. All you have to do is tear the top off and add water to the packet. The packet itself will become your cup. If you fill up the packet to the recommended line, you will be able to use each packet for two one-time rinses. Rinse your mouth completely.

What are the advantages of Quikee?

Our Quikee is a proprietary, clinically formulated, instantly-dissolving, no-brush, no-rinse, whitening and breath-freshening formulation. It is ideal for you to use anywhere and at anytime. Quikee will remove food, coffee, red wine, tobacco, and other stains. Clinical tests have proven Quikee to effectively and dramatically whiten teeth to one full shade lighter after only one use. Apply a pearl size drop to your teeth and smooth across with your tongue until completely dissolved. No rinsing necessary. Use between meals and snacks.

Will using the Whitening Floss be beneficial to my teeth?

Flossing is a very important part of dental health. Our Whitening Floss uses Calprox® to help whiten in-between your teeth. The addition of baking soda contributes to healthy gums. When flossing, wrap the floss around the side of each tooth in a “C” shape, and then slide the floss gently under the gum line to the tip of the tooth until the floss is clean. Repeat on all teeth. For clean and healthy teeth and gums, floss once per day

Why is a tongue cleaner important to use?

The tongue is most often forgotten when it comes to a person’s dental regime. However, the tongue carries 85% of bacteria that leads to bad breath. The simple cleaning of the tongue twice a day with a tongue cleaner ensures that the bacteria that leads to bad breath is kept at bay. Bend the tongue cleaner into a “U” shape with the ripple side down. Gently sweep from back to front, and then rinse the tongue cleaner.

Can I use mouth rinse after I brush?

You can rinse your mouth out after you brush with water. We recommend that if you are using a deep-colored oral rinse that you rinse with it before you brush. Using a red or orange colored rinse will only stain your teeth if used after you brush. Use a lightly-colored rinse after brushing, such as the Supersmile Oral Rinse, or a clear oral rinse like the Supersmile Whitening Pre-Rinse can be used after brushing.

Can I use an electronic toothbrush?

You can definitely use an electronic toothbrush when using our products; as long as the toothpaste is applied to a dry brush head the formula will be effective. The Supersmile LS 45° Sonic pulse™ Toothbrush is an ideal instrument to add to your oral care regimen.

Can I eat right after I finish brushing?

Yes, you can eat right after brushing. To get rid of daily build-up, make sure that the last thing you do before going to bed is brush.

Are there any stains that won’t come off my teeth?

There are some stains, such as those from the medicine tetracycline, that won’t come off your teeth with at-home bleaching. Tetracycline stains are so deeply rooted in a person’s enamel that they may not come off even with an in-office bleaching done by a dentist. For such stains we recommend that you speak with your dentist to go over any options that may be available, such as veneers.

How long will it take to see results?

Results vary for each individual. Some people may see results in three to five days; for some it will take a little longer. This process is a gradual one. Please remember that there are a lot of factors that go into how long the process takes, such as age, medication, eating habits, dental work, etc. It all depends on the stains, how long they have been there and how deeply rooted they are in the enamel. Positive results are usually apparent in about 4 weeks.

Can pregnant and nursing women use Supersmile products?

Our products are completely safe for use by pregnant and nursing women. Always consult your dentist before beginning a new whitening routine.
